Laurel is going to have her first-ever outside-of-school birthday
party, at Build-a-Bear (she's been excited about this since we mentioned
the idea when we took her there last year for her birthday). I have it
booked for 10:30 AM on Saturday November 8. I was worried about the
early time - all the early afternoon ones were taken, and Laurel fades
later in the day - but preliminary responses from her Brownie leader and
teachers at school are that they think it's actually a good time.
Anyway, our Build-a-Bear doesn't have a party room, so we are thinking
that after it's over around 12, we could herd the girls down to the mall
food court for pizza, cake and presents, and then have them picked up
around 1 PM. Does that sound reasonable? We live 20-25 minutes from the
mall, so I wouldn't be real enthusiastic about trying to figure out the
logistics of getting them all out to our place (there are 10 girls on
the invite list that Laurel chose, although our pocketbook is hoping
they won't all come!), and the eating options at our mall aren't that
great. We have a Red Robin and the food court, which consists of a
Sbarro, a Chick-fil-a and a Chinese place. Red Robin would no doubt be
nicer (and I've seen kids there that had obviously come from a
Build-a-Bear party), but I think it would be kind of pricier, and the
whole Build-a-Bear thing is making us feel poor already. Just looking
for a reality check from BTDT parents. Thanks!
